Key takeaways
- Self-serve Synthesia plans have one editor plus guests, and shared workspaces are Enterprise only.
- Guests can view and comment on single videos but cannot edit or generate.
- Enterprise admins invite members from Account Info, then the Users tab.
- Synthesia says it does not use customer data, including inputs or outputs, to pre-train its AI components.
By the end of this guide you will know which Synthesia plan fits your team and how to share videos safely. Synthesia makes videos with AI avatars from a script, and the way you share work depends on your plan.
Before you start
Pick one owner for the account, and decide how many people really need to create videos. Synthesia’s help center says shared workspaces are exclusive to the Enterprise plan. Self-serve workspaces allow guest access but have one primary user.
| Plan | What it adds for a team | Price as listed |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | 500 credits per month, watermarked videos | $0 per month |
| Starter | Downloads, no logo, 1 editor and 3 guests | $19 per month billed monthly, $168 billed yearly |
| Pro | Personal avatars, branded pages, 1 editor and 5 guests | $89 per month billed monthly, $708 billed yearly |
| Enterprise | Custom editors and guests, live collaboration, Brand Kits, SSO | Book a demo |
Prices come from the Synthesia pricing page, which also shows promotional offers. Check the page for the current price. Have a script, logo and brand colors ready before you begin. Also decide who will review videos, since reviewers can join as guests without paying for an editor seat.
Create the account and workspace
- Go to the pricing page and select Get started on your plan.
- Create the account with the owner’s work email.
- Join a Synthesia 101 Getting Started session if you want a guided tour. The start-using guide says sessions run weekly at various times.
If you buy Enterprise, Synthesia’s help center covers creating workspaces and organizations in its Manage Your Workspace collection.
Invite your team
On Starter and Pro, use guests. Follow the guest invite guide.
- On the video’s overview page, select Invite in the upper right corner. You can also use the three-dot menu on the video list and select Invite.
- Enter the guest’s email address.
- Choose a permission level, then select Invite as a guest.
Synthesia says guests can only view and comment on individual videos, whatever level you pick. A guest needs conversion to a member with a paid license to edit.
On Enterprise, follow the workspace invite guide.
- Select Account Info in the top right corner of Synthesia.
- Under Workspace settings, select the Users tab.
- Select Invite Members, enter the email address and set permissions.
Synthesia says new members can default to a Full paid license. To control who gets one, set Default license for new members to Restricted in Workspace Billing settings before inviting.
Set the admin and data settings
On Enterprise, check these items.
- Disable member invites. In Workspace permissions, this lets only admins send invitations.
- Allowed domains. Under Account Info, then the Collaboration tab, use the Workspace discoverability dropdown so people with a matching email can join.
- Licenses. Free licenses upgrade to Full automatically when a member first edits a video, while Restricted licenses need admin approval.
- Sharing and publishing. Workspace Settings control whether videos can be published publicly and whether search engines can index them.
On data, Synthesia’s AI governance page says it does not use customer data, including inputs or outputs, to pre-train its AI components. It says fine-tuning with customer data needs your written instruction under your agreement. The page says customers own the content they generate.
Connect your other apps
Synthesia’s help center lists a Synthesia API article and a Synthesia MCP article for connecting to other tools. A small business without a developer can skip these at first. If you want them, follow the vendor’s linked guides and check which plan includes them.
Tasks to try first
Make a short welcome video
This helps when you onboard customers or staff and want one friendly clip. Write the script yourself, then paste it into the editor.
Hi, I'm from [business name]. This short video shows how to [task].
Step one: [action]. Step two: [action]. Step three: [action].
If you get stuck, reply to our email or call [phone].
Share a draft with a guest reviewer
This helps when a manager needs to approve a video before it goes out.
1. Open the video > Invite (upper right)
2. Enter the reviewer's email
3. Choose Can Comment > Invite as a guest
4. Read their comments and update the script
Check the watermark before sharing
This helps when you test on the free plan first. Synthesia says the logo appears on all Basic plan videos and goes away after you upgrade and regenerate the video.
1. Generate the test video on Basic
2. Confirm the watermark is present
3. After upgrading, regenerate the video
4. Download and check the final file
Common problems
Synthesia’s help center says the watermark appears on every Basic plan video. To remove it, upgrade your plan and regenerate the video.

Frequently asked questions
Can two people edit videos on a Synthesia Starter or Pro plan?
Synthesia's pricing page lists 1 editor on Starter and Pro, with 3 and 5 guests. A shared workspace with several members needs the Enterprise plan.
What is the difference between a license and a role in Synthesia?
A license sets what you can do with videos, such as edit or only view and comment. A role sets your standing as a guest, member or admin. Synthesia's help article on this covers Enterprise plans.
How do I stop members from inviting others to a Synthesia workspace?
Turn on Disable member invites in Workspace permissions so only admins can send invitations. Synthesia's invite article describes this for Enterprise workspaces.
