By the end of this walkthrough Tidio will be on your website with your team added and the Lyro AI agent answering from your own content. Tidio adds a chat widget to your site and lets Lyro answer common questions. You will also set what happens when a visitor asks to talk to a person.
Before you start
Pick one owner for the Tidio account. Decide who answers chats, and gather the pages, files or answers you want Lyro to use. Someone should be able to edit your website, or install a plugin if you use WordPress, Shopify, Wix or Squarespace.
Tidio’s pricing page counts billable conversations. A conversation counts only once a human agent replies or starts it. Replies from Flows or Lyro do not count as agent replies.
| Plan | What it adds for a team | Price as listed |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 50 billable conversations, 10 seats | $0 a month |
| Starter | 100 billable conversations, operating hours | $24.17 a month |
| Growth | Automatic chat assignment, macros, advanced analytics | From $49.17 a month |
| Plus | Departments, custom branding | From $300 a month plus usage |
The page lists a 7-day free trial with no credit card. Every account also gets 50 free Lyro conversations, one time. The Growth conversation count shows two different figures on the page, so check it before you buy.
Create the account and workspace
These steps follow Tidio’s chatbot guide.
- Go to the Tidio site and click Start for free.
- Register with your work email.
- Install the chat on your site. For WordPress, Shopify, Wix or Squarespace, use the Tidio plugin or app.
- For any other site, go to Settings > Live Chat > Installation and open the Manual install tab. Copy the code and paste it just above the closing body tag, then save.
- Go to Lyro AI Agent > Configure > General and turn Lyro on.
Invite your team
Tidio calls teammates agents. These steps come from Tidio’s agent management article.
- Go to Settings > Team and open the Agents tab.
- Click the blue Add an Agent button.
- Enter the agent’s name, email address and permission type.
- Make sure the agent received the activation email.
The agent logs in with the link in that email. In the same tab, the three dots menu lets you delete or deactivate an agent. Edit permissions changes what each agent can do. You can also create roles, which are custom permission sets. If you want to group agents, go to Settings > Team > Departments. Tidio’s pricing page lists departments on the Plus plan.
Set the admin and data settings
Set Lyro’s behavior before you go live. Tidio’s guide describes these places.
- Configure > Handoff: choose what happens when a customer asks for a person, and set online and offline hours separately.
- Configure > General: choose whether Lyro replies always or only when your team is offline.
- Behavior > Guidance: set tone and specific rules.
On data, Tidio’s terms say input and output are not used to train foundation models exposed to other customers, except in irreversibly aggregated form. They say its AI providers are contractually barred from training their own models on that data. They also say customers may opt out of improvement training through support, without describing the process.
Connect your other apps
For your website, Tidio offers a plugin or app for WordPress, Shopify, Wix and Squarespace. Lyro can also connect a public Zendesk help center as a knowledge source. The guide does not list other integrations, so check Tidio’s own help center for anything else you need, such as email or a CRM.
Tasks to try first
Add your website as Lyro’s knowledge
Use this so Lyro answers from your real pages instead of guessing.
Lyro AI Agent > Knowledge > Data sources > Add knowledge
Choose: Scan priority pages
Enter: your website address
Then open each website folder and switch off any Q&A pair that is wrong or out of date with the Used by toggle.
Write guidance for tone and limits
Use this when you want Lyro to sound like your business.
Behavior > Guidance:
Use short, friendly sentences.
Answer only from the knowledge sources.
If a customer asks for a price quote, a refund or a complaint, offer to connect them with a person.
Test it before customers do
Use this to find gaps before launch.
Open Playground and ask:
What are your opening hours?
How do I book an appointment?
What is your cancellation policy?
If an answer is missing or wrong, click Add answer.
Then check Knowledge > Suggestions for questions Lyro could not answer.
Common problems
Tidio’s guide says that turning on Lyro switches off existing flows that use the Visitor says trigger, so the two do not answer at once. You can turn those flows back on later.
Rather hand it over?
